Website Design for a Migration or Visa Agent

A migration agent's site has to make a high-stakes decision feel safe

Someone visiting a migration or visa agent's site is making one of the biggest decisions of their life — their ability to live, work, or stay in Australia. They're stressed, the rules are confusing, and they're choosing an agent partly on who makes them feel like they won't get it wrong. The site's job is to be calm, specific, and clearly expert — not slick. Slick reads as untrustworthy in this industry.

Here's what a migration agent site needs.

Be specific about the visas you handle

List the visa types you work with, in the words people search. "Skilled migration — 189, 190, 491", "employer-sponsored — 482, 186", "partner and family visas", "student visas", "business and investor visas", "citizenship", "appeals and tribunal representation". The person searching "partner visa agent [suburb]" or "491 visa help" needs to land on a page that says exactly that. A homepage that says "migration services" helps no one. Specific visa pages are the SEO and the reassurance in one — they tell the visitor "yes, we do your situation".

Establish expertise and authority

This is a regulated industry, and trust comes from credentials. MARA registration number, clearly shown. The backgrounds of the agents. How long you've been operating. Success indicators — without overpromising. A site that looks like it could be a one-person operation with no registration doesn't win clients who are trusting you with their future. This is the part that converts, and it's where most agent sites are thinnest.

Make the first conversation easy

The first step in migration is almost always a consultation — "am I eligible, what are my options?" Make booking that consultation obvious and low-friction. A "book a consultation" button, a clear statement of what the consult covers and what it costs (many charge a fee for the initial assessment, and hiding that loses trust). The friction of "email us to enquire" loses the people who were ready to talk. (More on this: how to get more leads from your website.)

Content that answers the questions people actually have

Migration clients have a thousand questions, and they search them. "How long does a partner visa take?", "Can I apply for 491 if my occupation is on the list?", "What's the difference between 189 and 190?". A site that answers these plainly — not in legalese — builds trust and search ranking over time. This is the SEO work for migration, and it's content-led. We wrote the broader playbook: why your website isn't getting any customers.

The pages a migration site needs

A homepage with visa types, credentials, and a consultation button. A page per visa category. An about page showing MARA registration and agent backgrounds. A contact page with consultation booking. That's the spine. Plain-language articles on common visa questions build trust and search over time. (How many pages: how many pages a small business website should have.)

What to skip

Stock photos of happy families at the airport. "100% success rate" claims (they're not believable and they're not allowed). Dense immigration-law text. Anything that makes the site feel like a sales funnel rather than expert help. A migration site should feel calm, expert, and honest about what it can and can't do.

What it costs

A proper migration site — calm, expert-led, structured for search — sits below what most agents assume. The numbers: how much a website costs. For an agent, it pays for itself in a few new clients.
